Fortnight's highlights... well kinda.
Am tired. Took a month to sap all the energy gained from a year's no pay leave and doing jack shit.
Am at work, its midnight on June 12.
But anyway: The highlights - in somewhat chronological order:
- Great hen's night out with Carrie, Alana and Karen A (even if slightly depressing cos we talked about husbands and the problems with we have/had with them)
- Receiving the boxes of stuff I shipped from America; All eight boxes arrived safely, including our wakeboards and snowboards.
Yippeee, except, the prices of wakeboarding have gone up tremendously. From about $80 an hour the last time we sent (about a year ago) to $110 per hour now. Gee.
- meeting KL-ites Alan and Gillian at PS Cafe;
It was great fun to see the two again... gosh, guys, think we've known each other for what? 8 or 9 years now?
- meeting Yvonne and Vince on a boat which was moored at the exact same spot that the Rising Tide was on Nov 6 2005;
The poor dear is very tired too; looong hours at SNEC plus the upcoming wedding... hur hur, as per normal lah... it's always the bride that has to freak out and plan everything cos the groom doesn't bother very much hor?
But onedegree15 - the Marina at Sentosa Cove - has changed dramatically since we got married back in nov 2005! I still remember the towering cranes, and now, its a pretty building, complete with lit pool and nice lights and glass everywhere. A wee bit hot during the day (as I was coming in) but brilliantly pretty at night.
- hanging out with Judith and Ailien at the new place,
- meeting up with Lionel and getting presents from the US (he visited the folks in Rochie and was pressed into being a mule for all my goodies);
- meeting up with Den and Rosi - they celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary! Congrats and well done guys!; more or less moving into my new place,
- doing my first lot of laundry there (wait... this is supposed to be a list of highlights! hummm) and anyway.... have done a heckuva lot more since then.
- Going rollerblading with Kok Min on the East Coast Parkway for the first time in at least 13 or 14 months.
There is something to be sad about having cold coconut on a hot hot hot day. And esp if you'd been blading for a while.
- Got Vince into the papers. He's pleased, so okay, am pleased too
- Went to Jude and Carrie's wedding - saw old friends Neil, Simon, Wendy and Reese there
- Hanging out in the Bellini Room with Judith and discovering - gasp - for the 1st time in 10 years can fit into this particular skirt.
Don't worry, this phenomenon hasn't lasted. Today, I pigged out on lunch of mee koon kueh, then snacked on doughnut, tau sar pao, and chocolate and coffee. Then ate dinner of yong tau foo with helping of fish cake fritters on the side.
Speaking of pigging out: Check out this immense Jap spread Chang, Judith and I had on a sunday about two weeks ago...
I tell you we ate so much! I feel like the incredible tick. Sucking up all the local foodie goodness to bloat up for a while, coming back down and bloating again.
Ai-Lien and I looking a bit chee-cham tired at about 10 pm just now. She'd been working oh, about 13 hours by then. Me? Am just chee cham ugly esp with my eyebags the size of timbucktoo.
